Young drivers may own it tough in terms of putting the abilities they’ve learnt on driving lessons into practice in the roads.
But a fresh report is contacting for the federal government to implement a variety of measures to help make the country’s highway network a safer place for older motorists.
It comes after statistics were released showing that senior motorists are twice as more likely to have a good fatal crash at T-junctions just as their more youthful counterparts.
So that you can help tackle this issue, the report recommends replacing T-junctions with mini-roundabouts, which are usually easier for elderly motorists to navigate.
The pensioner-friendly idea originates from the Older Drivers Task Drive – and it’s already received the backing of some pretty high-profile government figures.
Transfer Minister Andrew Jones, for instance, has already told the days newspaper that he and his co-workers will “consider the suggestions carefully”.
But the report doesn’t end with T-junctions. It continues on to recommend that greater work with should be manufactured from segregated slip roads that business lead into proper lanes.
It’s thought this might allow motorists to enter the move of site visitors on busy roads and never have to look above their shoulder up to at present.
To cut the threat of accidents occurring thanks to lack of vision, the report as well suggests that elderly drivers ought to be given tests from age 60.
